The tech support industry is very vast. The customers whose computers and devices run out of warranties need some sort of help or the other at some point. There are numerous options available from remote tech support to local stores like Geek squad, stamples or even local technician.
Recently it has been seen that some companies have started to put a bad name on the tech support industry by using unlawful and unethical tactics to acquire customers.

The Fake Pop up scam
This pop up scam started few years back. Initially it started in the form of FBI virus where the screen of a user used to freeze and a ransom was asked to get rid of that. The Ranson was asked in form of bitcoin payment.

With time the pop up changed to a more advanced technique. In this popup the sender of pop dupes you showing a screen which looks like a blue screen or any screen that scares the user. There is a number written on the pop up.
The user is forced to call the number written on the pop up and finally the user end up paying some money to get rid of the pop up.
What to do when you get this kind of pop up.
- First of all never call that number.
- If you have already called the number and given your remote access, then make sure you shut down your pc so that the scammers can loose the remote control of your pc.
- Most of the times it has been seen where victims who come to us have been locked out of their pc by changing the admin password. When the victim doesn’t pay the scammers they can lock you out of your pc or send a virus in reality.
- So make a thumb rule never call the number displayed on any popup. The companies like Microsoft, HP, Acer etc. never send any such pop ups with their numbers displayed on them.
Methods to remove the pop up
Well this pop up has been made with advanced techniques now. Earlier you could close the popup simple by close the browser in task manager. But now various kinds of new pop ups are developed by the con artists. I will list the major steps you can take to remove the pop up.
